The Producer role can have you wearing many hats due to the highly logistical nature of the role. Especially when you’re dealing with an Indie Film. The Producer role is typically part finance and part logistical, but in the case of an independent film a producer is likely to manage many of the logistical tasks so that pre-production and shoot days run as smoothly as possible. These tasks include anything from onboarding cast and crew, creative input, prop selection, daily call sheet, travel arrangements for talent, making sure everyone is fed and paid, and following union standards. The number of local river-related location shoots was a pure delight! This film was made possible with local DMV talent & crew that I was proud to be a part of. There is more untapped opportunity in our market waiting to be fully discovered.
The Movie, Million To One is about “a rising social media star who falls for a beautiful chef when he returns home for his brother's wedding. After being rejected, he has to manage his brother's cold feet while taking one last shot at the woman of his dreams." Rob Gordon's performance in this ROMCOM is playful, witty, and entertaining.
Million to One is now available for streaming on Apple TV, and Amazon Prime. The Movie has garnered much success and was an Official Selection of the American Black Film Festival ABFF, Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival MVAAFF, and our own Prince George's Film Festival PGFF.
Harold Jackson III, who wrote and directed Million to One, is an Emmy Nominated Producer and has directed multiple films, series, and documentaries. Some of his award-winning productions include "Burn: The Evolution of An American city," a documentary about the current state of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and its history of Black Wall Street and Tulsa Race Riot. "Last Night" (ABFF Best Screen Play/Audience Choice Winner), The HBO Best Film winning "Unarmed Man" a film enguled in social commentary when civil unrest erups after a police officer kills an unarmed man, and the EMMY Nominated series "Anacostia."
Congratulations to all who made this film a success!
